Jade Brooks, M.A.

Hello! My name is Jade (she/her), and I am a Disability Adviser at the OAE. I am a mixed-race, first-generation American originally from the city of Los Angeles. I moved to Northern California to attend UC Davis, where I earned all three of my degrees. After completing my B.S. in Wildlife Conservation Biology, I worked as a biologist studying the conservation of various taxa (namely bats, other small mammals, and birds). I then went on to earn my Teaching Credential and worked as a public school teacher while completing my M.A. in Education. My dissertation was focused on implementing Community Citizen Science as project-based learning for children who speak languages other than English. 

Since being an educator and coming from a family and region with diverse disabilities, I have witnessed how transformative accessibility is for building community and, ultimately, unity. Here at Stanford, I aim to approach all my students with empathy and understanding, while recognizing that each person has their own unique needs. 

My favorite way to spend my free time is outdoors: be that by petting moss, admiring pollinators, painting landscapes, or birding with my favorite binoculars. I look forward to meeting with you soon!
